Biography
Dr. Nimmala Seshaiah was born into an agricultural family in the rural area of Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. His early life was defined by perseverance, as he walked 7 kilometers daily to attend high school at ZPH School, Thotapalligudur, after completing his elementary education in Koverapallem village. He later pursued his intermediate studies at VR College, Nellore, and secured an MBBS seat at SV Medical College, Tirupati, on his first attempt.
Dr. Seshaiah began his medical career as a Factory Medical Officer at Cominco Binani Zinc Factory in Kerala. In 1982, he transitioned to government service, furthering his education by completing an MS in General Surgery at Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada. He joined GGH Guntur as an Assistant Professor, eventually becoming the Head of the General Surgery Department. His commitment to teaching and mentoring has shaped many future doctors.
In addition to his academic and professional contributions, Dr. Seshaiah has had a lasting impact on the community. On August 15, 1988, he founded Dr.Seshaiah Prajavydyasala Multispeciality Hospital as a small clinic, charging just 5 rupees for patient consultations to ensure that healthcare was accessible to all. Through hard work and dedication, he expanded the clinic into a full-fledged multispeciality hospital by 1995, providing high-quality medical and surgical treatments at affordable prices, particularly for the poor and needy.
Dr. Seshaiah’s lifelong mission has been to serve the underserved, and his work continues to bring vital healthcare services to those who need it most. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming a leader in the medical field is an inspiring story of dedication, compassion, and community service.
